Adult Family Home in Auburn.
A home for adults with developmental disabilities, dementia and mental health needs. Everything on one floor, two living rooms, and a garden on the lot next door.
What we can look after.
Developmental disabilities, dementia and mental health
All three are DSHS specialty designations, so the training is on record with the state.
Personal care
Bathing, dressing, grooming and the bathroom. A reminder, or all of it.
Hoyer transfers and care in bed
Hoyer lift transfers, one-person transfers, bed baths, and turning every two hours through the day against pressure sores.
Medicines, insulin and blood sugar
Oral, topical, eye drops and insulin. A reminder, or we take it over. Every caregiver is nurse-delegated first.
Meals and help at the table
Cooked here, cut small or softened for swallowing, and fed to anyone who needs it.
Hospice and home health nurses
If your parent has a hospice or home health team, they keep it.

What families ask us.
How much does it cost?
Private pay rates are set by the care each resident actually needs, so there is no one number to print. Call John on (206) 371-2834 and he will give you a real figure on the phone. Medicaid is accepted too, subject to eligibility, authorization and placement.
Where are you, and which areas do you serve?
A quiet residential street in east Auburn, King County. Families come to us from across south King County and north Pierce. The towns are listed under Find us, below.
Do you take DDA clients?
Yes. Developmental disabilities is one of this home’s three DSHS specialty designations, so the training for it is on record with the state. Case managers are welcome to call John on (206) 371-2834 or come and look.
Is someone there at night?
Yes. 24-hour staffing coverage, and a staff member who can make decisions is here day and night.
How many residents live here?
Six at the moment, which is what the home is licensed for. Call John for what is open right now.
Can we visit before deciding?
Yes, please do. Visits are by appointment — call John on (206) 371-2834.
Built for somebody who cannot do stairs.
-
Everything on one floorBedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, both living rooms and the deck.
-
Two living rooms, not oneOne has the television, the other has the piano.
-
Showers with no stepA shower chair or a wheelchair goes straight in. Grab bars and a handheld head.
-
A deck and two lots of gardenThe deck is covered, so outside is not only a July thing.
What is different here.
Somebody who wants company and somebody who wants quiet need not sit in the same room.
A small household, so the same caregivers know your parent by name and by habit.
A sprinkler system through the house and a standby generator, so the heat and anything plugged in keep running when the street loses power.
The property is two lots. The second one is a flower garden running off the backyard.
Meet John Chege.
John owns the home and is the licensed provider. He has worked in healthcare for over twenty years. He writes the care plans and builds the rota.
Every plan starts from what the person can already do and what they want to keep doing, so the help fits the person rather than the other way round. Families, guardians and support teams are welcome in those conversations.
“Each of us needs a purpose, no matter how big or small, that provides motivation and inspiration to enrich our lives.”
